After years of planning, investment and construction, Portsmouth City Council has officially handed over the keys to the newly restored Hilsea Lido to its new operator, the experienced team behind Sea Lanes Brighton.

See the Results of a Major Restoration Project

Hilsea Lido has undergone a complete overhaul, funded by the UK Government and delivered by Portsmouth City Council in partnership with Beard Construction and consultancy company Mace.

During the visit, you'll learn about the extensive works that have been undertaken, including:

• Full renovation of the pool
• Installation of a brand-new modern filtration system
• Refurbishment of the plant room
• Restoration of surrounding areas and historic features
• Installation of modular shower and toilet facilities
• Provision of a fully accessible Changing Places toilet
• New beach-themed changing huts and visitor facilities
• Landscaping and public realm improvements

The scale of the engineering work is impressive, with:

• 80 tonnes of steel reinforcement used to strengthen the pool
• 30 lorry-loads of concrete brought in to stabilise the structure
• Significant investment to ensure the facility can be enjoyed for generations to come
