Novus Transition to CIOB Tomorrow’s Leaders – Where are we now?

A few months ago, we introduced you to the Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders project and looked at what had sparked this transition.

A few months ago, we introduced you to the Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders project and looked at what had sparked this transition.

To recap, a focus on inspiring the next generation and lowering the average age of membership across CIOB kicked off this project to research and develop a strategy for addressing the needs and approaches to engaging and building the future pipeline of construction management talent at CIOB.

Through listening to our members and with an ever-present desire to grow and develop for their benefit this led to transforming our ‘Novus’ groups to CIOB Tomorrow’s Leaders.

You may have some questions…

What’s happened to Novus?

Novus Representatives have now been transitioned across to their new Tomorrow’s Leaders Representative and Champion roles and make up the founding members of the CIOB Tomorrow’s Leaders Community. The integration of Tomorrow’s Leaders into the Hub Committees ensures these members have a voice and allows the influence of our Tomorrow’s Leaders Community to be an integral part of the CIOB. We would like to give thanks to those who have transitioned across to this new community and who, in their new roles, will play an integral role in shaping and developing this community. Equally we express our thanks to those who have decided to step away, for their valued commitment and contribution to Novus.

Our Champions and Representatives on the Hub Committees will play an active role within the CIOB through the delivery of engagement activity on a local, national and global scale aimed at the Tomorrow’s Leaders audience and by representing the voice of the wider Tomorrow’s Leaders Community across all areas of the CIOB. All the time helping to inspire the next generation too.

The Novus brand has been discontinued and instead you will now start to see the introduction of a new Tomorrow’s Leaders brand.

What is the CIOB Tomorrow’s Leaders Community?

CIOB Tomorrow’s Leaders is a community for members in the early stages of their construction career. This group of diverse, ambitious and emerging professionals are proactively looking to get ahead in their career and make a difference to society through the built environment. A global community, with self-development an integral part, Tomorrow’s Leaders is designed to support you through your career journey to become an inspiring leader.

How do people join this community?

The development of this community will be progressive, so we are not quite ready for our CIOB members to join just yet. However, our Tomorrow’s Leaders Champions will play an integral role over the coming months in helping us to shape and test the community in preparation for its introduction to the wider membership later in the year.

How can people get involved in the meantime?

As we work on building and growing this community, our Tomorrow’s Leaders Champions will continue to deliver activity aimed at the Tomorrow’s Leaders audience through engagement with the CIOB Hub Committees. With activities taking place globally there are plenty to choose from, whether that be in a face to face capacity or virtually too. If it’s networking opportunities you are looking for, then ensure you are signed up to CIOB Connect, our new mobile app, providing opportunities to connect with members across the globe.

When I’m able to join, will the community be fully developed?

We will continue working on enhancing the offering for this community, with plans to scope and develop new products and services for this audience over the coming months and into 2022. Our founding community members will play a key role in supporting us with this development.

This is an exciting time as we grow this community. These individuals are the future of the industry and an integral part of CIOB. Start to look out for the Tomorrow’s Leaders logo on events and activities taking place in your local area and across social media too, as well as more information to come over the coming months. Should you have any more questions in the meantime, please contact Sophie Cox, Tomorrow’s Leaders Officer on [email protected].
