Details

As part of the UK Government’s Young People and Work Report Call for Evidence, commissioned from the Rt Hon Alan Milburn, CIOB is convening an online roundtable to gather insight from employers and apprenticeship providers across the built environment. The discussion will contribute to the discovery phase of the review, which is examining the growing number of young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

This roundtable will explore:

  • How well current training and apprenticeship pathways are preparing young people for work
  • The skills and attributes employers are seeking
  • The practical barriers to recruiting and retaining younger entrants to the workforce

Participants will also be invited to reflect on what would make the biggest difference in supporting more young people into sustainable, good-quality employment, and what support employers would need to create more youth opportunities. Insights from the discussion will help inform CIOB’s policy recommendations aimed at improving outcomes for young people and strengthening workforce pipelines.
