Summary

Come join us at this workshop to reflect on Grenfell's legacy and discuss how we can progress with lessons learned!

As we approach the Anniversary of Grenfell we look to reflect on and discuss the progress that industry has made. We have put together this conference with a team of experts who will discuss new modern methods of Fire Safety, Early detection of defects, Technology Solutions and Construction Law along with our Keynote speaker. After the presentations this will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session..

Paul Nash CIOB Trustee: As a Past-President and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Paul is actively engaged in raising awareness of key issues affecting the construction sector and regularly speaks at industry events. In 2017 he chaired the working group on procurement as part of the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety led by Dame Judith Hackitt and is a member of the Industry Safety Steering Group that was established in 2018 to drive culture change in the industry in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

Jocelyne Fleming, CIOB Policy & Public Affairs Officer - Scotland - Jocelyne will provide an update on the CIOB's engagement on the Housing (Cladding Remediation) (Scotland) Bill and wider discussions about building safety.

ASSA Abloy – will discuss the door designs to provide protection from fire and limit the spread of flames. These doors play a vital role in maintaining fire compartmentalization while allowing easy access during normal times. Let us explore some details about ASSA ABLOY fire doors.

Multivista Presentation – Multivista uses cutting-edge visual technology to revolutionize how projects are managed before, during and after construction.Multivista provide this pioneering product and are a global provider of information technology solutions. Multivista will allow you to see behind walls, ceilings and even slabs to avoid any unforeseen cost and will demonstrate this in their presentation.

Fire & Safety – Fire DNA - The FIS Team have worked extremely hard in engaging with the supply chain and the UK and Scottish Governments along with certificated and trade bodies. The FIS, with us at FireDNA have been working on understanding matters since Grenfell and the FIS have created various documents for the FIS Membership and the UK Construction Industry to access and use, such as understanding the new UK Building Regulations, and the likes of the Golden Thread and Digital Information Plans where they are very much involved.

Construction Law - DWF LLP – Will give a lawyer prespective and reflect on the progess. An Introduction on Construction with a quick walk through on parties in construction projects, legislations relevant to construction projects, and construction documents. Jon will also discuss the EWS1 certification process and the ratings assigned to buildings and requirements for remedial work. Lastly he will cover the changes in cladding requirements, building owners' obligations and when they are required to cover remediation costs. He will also briefly touch on the BSA 2022 from a Scottish law perspective.

This will then be followed with a Panel Discussion - Speakers - Paul Nash (CIOB ) , Eddie Tuttle (CIOB policy), Abloy Rep, FireDNA Rep, Construction Law Rep, Alison Scott, Scottish Fire and Rescue with the oppertunity for a Q&A with the experts.
