Summary

In collaboration with Papyrus a vital look at suicide prevention and what we as individuals and organisations can do

We live in a world where we quantify and value every decision we make.

The most precious commodity we have is our health. We protect our physical health with hard hats, safety boots and hi-viz vests, and leave our mental health to chance.

Suicide is one of the most visible symptoms of the damage done to our mental health.

The statistics are frightening and tremendously sad.

We must design a way of protecting our mental health and in turn, significantly reduce suicide in our industry.”

Wyn T Harries FCIOB MRICS

Vice Chairman CIOB Wales Hub.”

Amanda Davies from Papyrus Wales will introduce us to their SPARK program which stands for Suicide Prevention Awareness, Resource, Knowledge.

The key objectives are:

  • To increase awareness of suicide and suicide prevention
  • To provide information about PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide
  • To develop Hope and encourage action for a suicide-safer community
  • To understand the importance of self-care.

This event will be of value to in-house MH first aiders and anyone who has an interest in improving mental well-being within our industry.

Members can gain 3 CIOB CPD points if you reflect on your learning from this activity.
