Site Visit - Amberley & Harrogate

Come along and join the CIOB North East, in partnership with the School of Architecture and the Built Environment, Northumbria University, for the ‘Constructing the North East’ monthly programme of site visits.

Visitors will be given a guided tour of the sites, meet the people delivering the projects, and see first-hand the huge range of roles that keep construction moving, from site managers and quantity surveyors to architects, engineers, digital construction specialists, design managers, health & safety leads, construction managers, social value managers, project managers and more. It's a chance to ask questions and get a genuine glimpse of what a career in construction actually looks and feels like.

Whether you're a student weighing up your options or simply curious about local projects, these visits are designed for you.

Esh's site at Amberely & Harrogate is a £23 million scheme which includes 75 two, three and four-bedroom houses and 21 two-bedroom bungalows which will all be available for affordable rent.

Esh has recently completed the foundation works for all 96 new homes on the development. During the visit, attendees are expected to see the installation of timber frames across a number of plots, providing an opportunity to observe this key stage of the construction process.

On plots where the timber frames have already been erected, a range of trades will be working to progress the homes to roof level, including the installation of solar panels.

Visitors will also have the chance to see later-stage construction activities, with some properties undergoing kitchen installations and internal decoration following completion of second-fix works on the first plots. This visit will offer valuable insight into multiple stages of the build programme, from structural works through to final fit-out.

FULL PPE MUST BE WORN - however site will provide visitor hi-vis and hardhats. Attendees must provide their own safety boots.

This learning activity can contribute to your annual CPD return and should be logged accordingly.
