Summary

Laing O’Rourke are delivering the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, at the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter for the University of Oxford.

Details

Bringing together Humanities faculties and institutes across the University, the centre will be an inspirational space where researchers will seek to answer the fundamental question of what it means to be human. It will be the first new building within the University which will be open to the wider community and will act as the main hub in the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter. Together with the academic facilities, the new building comprises performance and public engagement spaces – 500 seat concert hall designed with world-leading acoustic capability, a 250-seat theatre and film screening area, Bodleian library and Bate music collection.

Delivering via Modern Methods of Construction an offsite manufactured building that comprises 2 storeys below ground, 4 storeys above ground Structure, natural stone and brick façade, MEP services, box-in box acoustic spaces to Passivhaus standards. Consultant partners include CPC, Arcadis, Hopkins, Max Fordham, AKTII together with a breadth of specialist consultants. More information on LOR is available here: https://www.laingorourke.com/
